【CPP114】訊：最近印藝月刊人事變動，新的編輯上場，仍在摸索階段，要逐步適應月刊風格，一些技術性欄目需要聯絡不同作者和專家，對新上任的編輯來說確不容易。其實自去年編委會定下的兩個論壇議題中，「印刷色彩表現」發表的文章較多，討論范圍比較廣泛，但是仍然未能達到筆者的期望，而事實上仍有多位專家學者抱觀望態度，未有對此議題表態。


　　印藝月刊過去所發表之《三地書柬》，最多學者專家參與討論的題目便是「印刷名詞的規范」，當年筆者建議集中精力規范新生詞，比重新規范三地已應用流通多年的舊名詞更為有效和實際，所以三地論壇中另一公開議題便是「印刷新生詞」，很奇怪三地學者專家反應卻很冷淡，為此筆者將一些近年常見的印刷媒體新生詞分期列出，就教三地高明，希望藉此引起各位參與論辯。


　　1. Adjacent colors — Adjacent colors, also called analogous colors refers to the use of compatible color combinations that blend well together and are near each other on the color wheel (e.g. yellow, to yellow orange, to orange). These colors are more subdued and are not bright vivid colors.


　　英文原文大意是兩個顏色之鄰接位較弱之顏色，例如由黃至橙之間的黃橙漸變色。個人將此名詞中譯為──淡接色。


　　2. Alpha channel — In graphics, a portion of each pixel‘s data that is reserved for transparency information. 32-bit graphics systems contain four channels — three 8-bit channels for red, green, and blue (RGB) and one 8-bit alpha channel. The alpha channel is really a mask — it specifi es how the pixel‘s colors should be merged with another pixel when the two are overlaid, one on top of the other.
Typically, you wouldn‘t defi ne the alpha channel on a pixel-by-pixel basis, but rather per object. Different parts of the object would have different levels of transparency depending on how much you wanted the background to show through. This allows you to create rectangular objects that appear as if they are irregular in shape — you defi ne the rectangular edges as transparent so that the background shows through. This is especially important for animation, where the background changes from one frame to the next.

　　3. Alpha blending — Rendering overlapping objects that include an alpha value. In computer graphics, combining the → alpha channel with other layers in an image to show transparency. More than one layer in a multi layered image may contain a translucent component, thus multiple levels of blending may be required. If the graphics accelerator performs the blending in its own hardware, the results are displayed considerably faster.

　　4. Burner — Slang term for an internally or externally driven device for recording data on blank CDs or DVDs. The laser beam creates minute, precisely defi ned pits in the surface which represent 0 in binary computing. The non-lasered areas, known as lands, resent 1s. The reading head distinguishes between the lands and pits based on the amount of scattering or defl ection that occurs when the beam of light hits the surface of the disc. Deviations in pit dimensions can cause reading errors.


　　英文原文大意是內置或外置、可將數據信息抄錄在空白的 CD 或 DVD 上的器材。


　　個人將此名詞中譯為──燒錄器。


　　5. CTF – Computer to film. Term used to describe the transfer of pre-press data onto fi lm via an LED/laser imagesetter, with no manual steps in between. The imaged film can contain one or more pages of text and / or pictures.


　　英文原文大意是將印前數據通過 LED 或激光成像機，將文字及影像制成膠片。


　　筆者認為應將此名詞中譯為──計算機制片。


　　6. CTP – Computer to plate. Term used to describe the transfer of prepress data directly onto the plate via on-press IR, UV or violet laser imaging, eliminating the intermediate steps of conventional film imaging and stripping.


　　英文原文大意是將印前數據通過紅內線、紫外線或紫激光將文字及影像直接制成印刷版。


　　個人將此名詞中譯為──計算機制版。


　　注：CTP 也有稱為 Computer to Paper，即直接將印前數據在紙上印出來，其實便是數碼印刷 Digital Printing。為免混淆，建議CTP 只用于Computer to Plate.
